Department of Political Science

To Whom It May Concern:
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FOR MS. NIKITA REECE
It is my pleasure and honor to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Ms. Nikita Reece. I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at Howard University. I came to know Ms. Reece when she was enrolled in my course Gender and Development during my visit to University of Jaume 1, in Castellón, Spain as a Visiting Professor in the Fall of 2019.
The course comprised of an in-depth study of the issues surrounding women as actors and subjects of development at the domestic and international levels. Ms. Reece distinguished herself by submitting exceptionally well-researched and interesting papers on a weekly basis. All of Ms. Reece’s assignments were turned in on-time and with exceptional quality. She showed tremendous effort as well as an exceptional understanding of the material.
Ms. Reece has developed into a young woman determined to pursue graduate and professional work and I have no doubt she has all it takes to succeed in any graduate program. When I met Ms. Reece for the first time, she was not afraid to speak in class, Ms. Reece was always a thoughtful contributor in class discussions. All of her remarks were well said and provoked her peers to think more critically about the material.
I would rank her in the top one percentile of students that I have taught in the past 13 years in respect of her writing ability, analytical skills, and presentation style. Her intelligence is also reflected in her grade for the course, she received nearly perfect scores on all her coursework. Her written work is both clear and concise, as well as interesting to read. She demonstrated her oral articulateness in the discussions that were an integral part of the course. Ms. Reece went well beyond the course requirements in the quantity and quality of her work and attended every class session, proving her steadfastness and reliability.
At a personal level, Ms. Reece is a well-disciplined, industrious student with a warm and friendly personality. It was a true pleasure to have her in my class. Ms. Reece is truly the
