  Introduction
XXXXXP/L (XXXXX P/L) is Queensland’s premier coal export and the terminal of choice. It plays a vital link in the global steel making supply chain, exporting high- quality coal across the globe. As part of XXXXX P/L FY 19/20 Annual Business Plan, innovation and technology has been identified as a business lever to help improve and optimise its operations to meet the new demand requirements.
Since inception, XXXXX P/L has had a strong focus on driving efficiencies and improving operational performance. While the current strategy necessarily focused on incremental innovation and delivery of efficiency savings, XXXXX P/L recognizes that the incoming strategic period will require investment in continuous improvement and operational excellence, this has been expressed as a core ambition level by serving existing markets and customers using existing products and assets. XXXXX P/L as an organisation exists to serve a single contract for a single customer (O&MC between XXXXXM and XXXXX P/L) and as such, will focus its efforts on continuous improvement.
XXXXX P/L has long had a focus on continual improvement in executing its Operating and Maintenance contract for Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal. As an entity, XXXXX P/L plays an important part in implementing and influencing outcomes to enhance the overall operation, cost and productivity for its stakeholders.
In recognition of this, XXXXX P/L have embarked on a journey to enhance its Improvement and Innovation capability in order to realise its vision to be Terminal Operator of Choice.
Opportunity Statement
In today’s environment, we recognise the need to do more. The opportunity exists to expand our thinking, embrace creativity and explore ideas at a faster pace. We will establish bi-modal capability that features both incremental improvement and innovation in the XXXXX P/L improvement pipeline.
We aim to unlock innovation that has more impactful benefit to XXXXX P/L while still leveraging the safe, incremental improvements for the business. Improvement and Innovation at XXXXX P/L will be intentional, not incidental.
This Innovation Strategy offers the XXXXX P/L a roadmap to frame the journey of from incremental improvement to innovation-led value in a core ambition mindset.
