2. DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH
I bought from TOGA because I saw the cranes of the development while I was going for a walk with my dog. This piqued my interest and I went to see the display suite. I wasn’t actively hunting to purchase a property but the opportunity was too good to miss. So I became an active buyer. The investor in me would want to be notified first so as to not miss a great opportunity, even if I was not actively looking.
“I just went to the Macquarie Shopping Centre and just go shopping. For shopping, I just go around. I saw the display at the centre, so I just walked in. I think the display's quite nice, and because in that time, there is not much projects in that time in [Macquarie Park], so I'm consider to buy one because it's a good investment. It's near the university and the big shopping centre. I talked to the sales guy. They say there's not much left...It's the end of the sale time. Then they say there is just two or three left, so I'm very in a hurry to buy it.”
“We just went along and saw it. But at first we were thinking of just getting a two bedroom and then my wife said what's the best one in the place and one thing led to the other and she said all right, we'll get that one.”
“I was standing on my balcony and I thought, "Why are those cranes over there in Balmain? That's weird. You don't normally see cranes." So I came over with my dog to have a look at what was going on... I literally just came over to have a look.”
“Well pretty much we had no intention to sell where we were and it's just that we came with the Winters to look at their property on a Saturday morning and I looked at some other places with Cassie leading up to that, round their area. Because they were our neighbours. And we came in here and that was the ideal swap over for us.”
“It's like a lot of things. It was in the back of our mind to look for another opportunity. Partly to help offset any capital losses that we may occur and the property market was still running and we know Macquarie Park well, so it was just one of those things that, it just came at the right time and so we witnessed all the display. We saw it advertised in the newspaper. So we went, well we go there every day anyway, to Macquarie Shopping Center. The display center was around the corner, so we thought we'll just go and have a look. The thought process was, yeah, let's look at getting another investment property, let's look at something in a Growth Corridor, which is close to Train Station as well as really good shops. Something's not too far from the city. Something that was giving us the opportunity we either live in if we wanted to at opening or later. Or rent, but something that had a view and was always going to be a really good property to own either way. “
