 Alex's Story
To decide how best to support the communities during
the Covid crisis, all the CFs in Turkana reported to GCN and devised a plan, smartphones were supplied by GCN for virtual meetings. A poster and radio campaign was launched, posters were in the local language and children were encouraged to spread the word to adults with literacy issues.
We also conducted door to door visits to distribute information leaflets and to identify the most vulnerable households, including girls in need of sanitary pads. We mapped the distribution points for the sanitary pads for those who needed them. This also supported surveillance of
the spread of Covid-19, which we reported to the Ministry of Health.
Last year was a difficult year and the impact will be felt in communities for years to come. We want 2021 a year
of healing and helping families to recover. We will continue to be a community in conversation for a collective and better future.
