If I were Taoiseach, I would probably be very controversial! I would want housing for all. Rents would be regulated so that residents pay no more than 20% of their household income. The quality of life would have to improve. So many working families are struggling with costs due to extreme interest rates. The stigma of owning your own home versus renting has to change, and there should be a bigger cap on rentals. I would protect renters and end homelessness!
Dublin is steeped in history, from literary to musical to artistic and more. We are a creative country, and I love that about Ireland. What is lacking is affordable housing. People are turning down jobs and college places because they cannot find housing. We can do better for our people. I know we can!
