The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in school closures in Uganda for almost all of 2020 and 2021. The world’s longest shutdown has left schools in crisis and children at risk. The estimated learning deficit is 2.8 years. When schools re-opened in January 2022, many children were unhappy to return to their pre-pandemic grades, grades they feel they have outgrown.
