02 Annual Report 2023
FROM
THE
CHAIRMAN
The Iveagh Trust experienced some extreme
highs and lows during 2023. The fire in Kevin
Street was shocking, and it was terrible to
see so many lives impacted by it. But it also
showed another side of the Iveagh Trust – how
the community came together on the night
of the fire, offering everything from cups of
tea to accommodation for those displaced. It
demonstrated how the Estate Management team
and Head Office team worked together to ensure
that everyone had somewhere to sleep that
night and for the weeks and months ahead. It
highlighted how our staff and contractors united
to work as one for the benefit of the community.
Looking back now, despite all the shock and
sadness, there was much to be proud of.
Without the newly opened Rita Community
Room in Kevin Street, the response wouldn’t
have been so seamless. Thank you to the Keefe
Family for making this facility possible.
RORY GUINNESS, CHAIRMANWe also celebrated the opening of the Rooftop
Garden in the Iveagh Hostel, a facility which
Fred Stephens’ departing words to me after 47 years of working at the Iveagh Trust were: “I
provides not only respite for the residents but
also a space for socialising and educational
opportunities. The Community Garden in Kevin
Street goes from strength to strength, as do the
wonderful fun days across the estates.
We welcomed many new residents across our
communities, particularly Miller’s Glen, which
became part of the Iveagh Trust community in
Swords.
I am honoured to be the Chairman of a historic
was so lucky to find a job where no two days were the same.”
institution whose work remains as relevant as
ever. I work with an incredible set of Trustees,
who generously give their time and expertise,
and to whom I am enormously indebted.
Everyone in the Iveagh Trust knows that care is
at the centre of everything we do. And care we
do, because no two days are ever the same.
