CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Children’s Ministry shares the love of God and disciples children from birth through fifth grade. We want children to know that God loves them, created them for a purpose, and that God is with them all the time and everywhere they go. We strive to create a small group learning community where kids are nurtured and can form bonds with one another, but also with key adults in their life that can help mentor them throughout their faith journey.
We do this by living into the mission of Scioto Ridge. We seek opportunities such as Vacation Bible School and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. We nurture our families and children through weekly worship and kids programming. We transform the world by equipping families and kids with the necessary tools to share God’s love at home and beyond.
Treats and Treasures is another outreach program to help connect with our local community. We provide a safe space for kids to trick or treat and families to join in fellowship while creating another point of contact for families seeking a church community.
Third Grade Bibles are presented each fall to these students in front of the congregation.
Kids Worship is the term for our kid’s programming
on Sunday mornings. At the 9:30 and 11:00 services, Children’s Christmas Program is a wonderful way
we offer a dynamic 60-minute learning experience for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Kids start in a large group watching our weekly Bible story, singing fun worship songs, and playing games. Kids then break out into grade-level small groups that help reinforce the Bible story with fun and engaging activities. Our toddler and preschool friends enjoy a similar experience, appropriately geared toward their early developmental needs, with the same consistent and loving teachers each week in a classroom.
Wednesday Night Kids Programming is offered at various times throughout the year. Several Christ- centered classes that help children grow further in their faith journey are offered. Whether it’s through art, games, or activities, kids learn more about the Bible and what it means to follow Christ.
Vacation Bible School is one of our largest community outreach events reaching over 400 kids with the message of Jesus Christ. With the help of over 175 servants, we offer a five-day mini-camp with morning and evening sessions. Through fun and exciting Bible stories, worship songs, hands-on activities, crafts and games, kids learn that Jesus loves them.
Easter Egg Hunt is one of our fastest-growing outreach programs with over 600 people in attendance last year. In addition to providing a fun Easter egg hunt for children in the community, it provides a precious point of contact for families seeking a church community.

In 2019-2020, Children’s Ministries will Serve As One by:
• Exploring ways to expand our childcare capacity to serve more families.
• Developing and recruiting 20 additional youth and adult servants to lead children towards Christ on Sunday mornings and throughout the week.
• Facilitating the growth of classes aimed at discipling children and parents.
• Equipping parents weekly with resources to engage their child throughout their spiritual journey.
• Developing and creating opportunities for families to worship with their children quarterly.
• Creating more community outreach for families and kids.
Serving in Children’s Ministry is not only needed but spiritually fulfilling. Can you serve?
