ONESERVING AS ONE 2019-2020 Scioto Ridge Church Family,
Grace and peace to you. As I think back over the last few years and I look ahead to the future of our congregation, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and awe. I am grateful for the many ways in which we touch the lives of people inside and outside our walls. We are a church that takes very seriously our mission to “Seek the Unchurched,
Nurture Disciples, and join with Jesus in Transforming the World.” Various ways in which we do this are represented in this magazine.
I am also filled with a sense of amazement at how many great things our church is already doing. Hundreds of people are connected in ministries at Scioto Ridge and thousands of lives are being changed because of the ministries of Scioto Ridge. It is rare that a day goes by in which I don’t hear a story or two about the ways in which the people of Scioto Ridge are being the hands and feet of Jesus. This still leaves me astounded.
Over the last year, the leadership of the church has spent time in careful discernment asking God what the next few years might look like for the church. We have carefully crafted a two-year ministry plan that represents our commitment to be faithful to God’s leading. From increasing our missional capacity, to updating our facility to meet the growing demand for ministry space, to increasing the number of people engaged in mission and ministry, we believe this two- year plan will help us accomplish those and many other goals.
As you read through this magazine, I invite you to ask the Holy Spirit a question— “What’s mine to do?” Beyond your financial support, I encourage you to take a step of faith and become involved in a new ministry or servant opportunity. Spiritual growth does not happen by itself. It requires our own engagement and partnering with God. These ministry and servant opportunities are ways in which you can connect with others and grow spiritually.
I hope you’ll join me in giving thanks to God for the many ways our church is changing the world. I hope you’re filled with the same sense of amazement as I am when you learn about the many ways our church is engaged in mission and ministry. I also hope you’ll spend time prayerfully considering, “What’s mine to do?”
As always, I am humbled to be one of your pastors and to be on this journey with you as together we “Seek, Nurture, and Transform the World.”
In Christian Love,
Pastor Jason Wellman Senior Pastor
