President’s letter
President’s Letter – August 2019
While the warm glow of the Stirling Conference is still fresh in our minds and hearts, it’s time for my contribution to the magazine. As I write, the sun is streaming through the window and all is right with the world! I hope that everyone has enjoyed the summer and is either remembering a great summer holiday or looking forward to one. For my part, I have an exciting teaching commitment in Spain coming up soon, so my summer excursion will be built around that.
Of course, as I’m British, I have to mention the weather! We’ve experienced a real mixed bag this summer, ranging from fallout from mainland Europe’s heatwave to storms, floods and gales. If Brexit ever happens, does that mean we won’t be getting Europe’s weather patterns landing on us? Whatever happens, my tomatoes have survived so far and are grown like trees, yielding some very tasty fruits. What more can we ask?
Conference in Stirling was the usual friendly and happy occasion that seems to characterise our gatherings. On top of that we had some incredible speakers. Thanks to the internet and to the sterling work of Malene and Phil (did you see what I did there?), you can catch up on what you missed or, if you were present, you can remind yourself of the whole experience.
