Page 5 - Collectanea
P. 5

The exhibition Collectanea, curated by Christoforos Marinos, presented an idiosyncratic visual reading of the monumental book with the same title by the renowned thinker and essayist Zissimos Lorenzatos. The curator composed a text, a subtext and an index for the works; he unfolded his references and let the works and his personal relation to the artists guide him. He presented works exhibited for the first time together with commissioned works and works from the ACG Collection by artists of different generations in a dense, yet serene, exhibition including multiple layers. The fine gestures and meticulous attention to detail involved in the production of the works created a deep feeling of spirituality while engaging the senses. Collectanea embraced an ‘intertextual’ approach in a diligently orchestrated show encompassing the written and unwritten stories that connect different people, places, thoughts, theories and things.
Unfortunately, Collectanea had to close too early due to the covid-19 pandemic and could not be visited for almost half of the period of its planned duration. The catalogue documents the exhibition and transcribes it to a print medium, returning it to its starting point, a book.
