Page 457 - Total War on PTSD Final
P. 457
I started conducting research on why Veterans were struggling and the most common reason was that they felt like they didn't have a purpose anymore...and that they didn't have anything to look forward to. When I asked why they didn't participate in, for instance, extreme sports, I was told that the reason was a lack of financial stability and not knowing where or how to get involved to gain the necessary knowledge to try such
sports.
P.T.S.D. is a non-profit organization established to bring Veterans out to Pocatello, Idaho and take them through a two-week introductory class in the following sports: kayaking (spring), rock-climbing (summer), mountain biking (fall), or skiing/snow- boarding (winter). We accept Veterans of all ages to participate in our program. We accept any Veterans with or without a diagnosis of PTSD. In basic terms, our acceptance policy is that our nonprofit offers a 2-week course for any and all Veterans seeking a change in their current life. All that is required is a DD-214 showing that you served in the U.S. military.
