NVTRP‘s Veteran program is offered at no-cost to participants. We receive grants from
generous organizations such as Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Disabled American Veterans, Disabled Veterans National Foundation to cover the costs, as well as grants through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH).
Along with providing weekly sessions, NVTRP aims to provide services that bring the larger communities of Active Duty and Veterans together. As our military program has grown, we’ve started hosting annual one-day events for Veterans. One such event is Hoofprints for HERoes, an event for women and children that was originally created and fundraised for by a volunteer who is a woman Veteran and saw a need. This event creates a unique opportunity for women military service personnel to share an activity with their children and also find a support group of others with similar experiences.
NVTRP also partners with a licensed counselor who offers equine-assisted psychotherapy and will do group psychotherapy sessions during some of NVTRP’s military events.
