 always relate that well in such an environment so why not try something that we found that works?
Veterans have no problems trusting others who have been in battle with them, or who have relatable experiences; the people who were there supporting them, directly or not, throughout their years in the military. My dad and I have worked in that community for 17 years now and some of them have extreme trust for what we are trying to do. We are all volunteer based. The program is year-around and is located in Fairmont, North Carolina, which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
Our main mission is to lower the suicide rate in the Veteran and First Responder community. Everyone knows about the 20-25 number in the Veteran community and 10-15 for the First Responder community each day. We are trying to lower that rate and make a real difference by providing a place where, once enough people have heard about it, that will be a household name and a reference so that, if you are a Veteran or
First Responder and are feeling that low, you can go talk to these guys and get away for at least a weekend. We want to offer a place of tranquility and sanctuary where individuals can come to and that will help them with their transition from service life into civilian life.
