Early on, we understood that for Task Force: ISO to have any kind of value for Veterans, our program needed both technical rigor and professional credibility. Our training needed to go beyond “feels good” to having therapeutic value. With the guidance of the University of Denver’s Sturm Center, which specializes in military psychology, we were able to add therapeutic value to our photography training curriculum. Our collaboration resulted in therapeutic metaphors that coincide with the technical training throughout the photography training classes.
