“Change is not a destination, just as hope is not a strategy.” - Rudy Giuliani Courtenay: My husband and I both participated in whitewater rafting in West Virginia,
with him going back six times and me going four times (after we met).
We both got to the point that we were good enough at paddling (as compared to other inexperienced paddlers in the rafts, as most were) that the guide had to put us on opposite sides of the raft so that we wouldn’t continue to throw off the rest of the raft paddling wise.
One particular trip, I think it was our last one, we ended up in a rafting group with one lady who, before we even laughed, was staring at her nails and worrying out loud that she was going to mess up her manicure.
After myself and my hubby mutually rolled our eyes at each other we immediately looked around to see if we could get into another group...but no luck there.
Later on in the trip, obviously still worried about the nails no doubt, she lost control of her paddle and managed to ‘nail’ me square in my jaw with the handle.
I always loved watching the nature go by from the raft during the slow points. However, I still think Manicures suck!
