 CHAPTER 24 - AVENUE OF ESCAPE
Sam the Husky/Golden Retriever and Maggie the German Shepherd - Michael: I served as a member of the Security Police (81172, Law Enforcement) in the U.S. Air Force from February of 1983 through June of 1993 at Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB), Suwon Air Base (Gyeonggi Province) Korea and Robins Air Force Base, and many other temporary duty assignment locations too numerous to count. I was a Law Enforcement Specialist and a Traffic Accident Investigator. When I worked in a Law Enforcement capacity, we always had a Military Working Dog with us. They were usually either Belgian Malinois or German Shepherds. I remember one of the Dog Handlers would bring his dog into the office and let his dog off leash. Well the dog would come into the room, and he was as big of a pet as he was a Military Working Dog. He loved everybody but, when the Dog Handler gave him the command, he would turn from your best buddy to wanting to chew your arm off. The Dog Handler would keep a sleeve in his truck, and we'd all 'catch the dog' every so often. I think the dog had done it so much that it was just fun for him. He'd up and attack that sleeve with his mouth end and on his tail end his tail would just be wagging away.
There is absolutely no doubt that I would do it all again if given the chance. I am proud of my military service. Everything I have done in life has shaped me. I don't know what I would be
