have provided both a physical challenge and a mental release. Through these activities I have become involved with Team Semper Fi, Wounded Warrior Project, Paralyzed Veterans Racing, Team Red White and Blue (Team RWB), Team Rubicon, and The George W. Bush Foundation Team 43. I have been privileged to mountain bike with President Bush and to get to travel around the country for adaptive sports events and camps. As I continue with these activities, I am now paying this forward by introducing Veterans to adaptive sports and activities and mentoring new amputees as well as Veterans with PTSD. I participate in the Team 43 leadership series, volunteer with Team Rubicon, and am the Veteran's Outreach Coordinator for my local Team RWB chapter. I also serve on the America's Vet Dogs Board of Directors and work to assist Veterans with getting a Service Dog. My wife Anne continues to serve as my caregiver and as an adaptive PE teacher and my son Joe is attending the US Air force Academy. My daughter Lara will begin dental school in June.
The more time passes the easier things seem to get. It’s not that the problems go away its just I've found more ways to deal with them in productive and positive ways. Having a Service Dog was the turning point. Getting Rory was when I distinctly started getting better.
