silhouette slid off the fence and onto the pavement. He ran over to the body and saw a 14-year-old boy whose shirt was soaked in blood. There were potatoes on the ground, and some potatoes were still rolling out from under his bloody shirt. The boy had been hit in the head and chest and was dead. The client stated he was frozen with guilt and horror; realizing that the boy had come to steal potatoes, probably to feed his family, since the war had had created a condition of famine where people were starving to death.
My client said the boy’s face looked just like his nephew’s...as if they were twins. He said that after he came back to the U.S., every time he saw his nephew he was reminded that it could have been his nephew he had killed. Because of that he could not stand being around the boy, and seeing him around every day brought back the memories as flashbacks. The client stated that he wanted to die because he could not live with the flashbacks and the lack of sleep, and he lacked even basic feelings that confer a sense of reality to life.
We did a ceremony in which he communicated with the soul of the Iraqi boy telling him that he did not mean to kill him. At that point a feeling arose that helped to bring the regretful event to a conclusion, like “pieces” of a puzzle falling into place and creating a sense of completion. My client was then willing to let the energy of the memory be neutralized through Esotherapy. With the flashbacks gone, my client was able to re-connect with his nephew. As well, he was able to sleep, to experience normal feelings, and to enjoy life once again. Without the old trauma-related feelings, the need and desire to use meth had vanished.
