certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. My current special interests focus on the use of Genomics to aid in the determination of the most efficacious way to utilize medications like Ketamine as well as the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Theta-Burst Stimulation (TBS) in the treatment of refractory depressions and other psychiatric illnesses. I regularly treat my patients using emerging therapies that are based on pioneering discoveries about the brain.
Over the past few years we’ve tried many modalities to treat those suffering, and it often felt like the lyrics of Sam Hunt’s song: ‘Body like a back road, drivin’ with my eyes closed.’ There are many programs offering treatment, but the proper selection of psychiatric medications for specific patients has not had a solid scientific basis. We are using Genomind’s Genecept Assay as well as Assurex’s Genesight to help treat those suffering from PTSD, and the future is starting to look brighter.
Genecept Assay Test
This is a test used in the decision-making process when prescribing medication and treatment for psychiatric conditions. Genecept looks at pharmacodynamic gene variations and drug target sites and how they differ among individuals.

How does the Genecept Assay Test work?
It identifies patient-specific genetic markers that indicate which treatments are likely to work as intended, have no effect, or cause adverse effects. It is an easily administered cheek swab test that analyzes key genes, selected based on hundreds of studies showing that variations in these genes can inform treatment decisions. Genecept is used to guide treatment for a range of psychiatric conditions including Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD),
