knew it, it was time to take him back. At the end of November, he went for his Public Access Test. I was quite nervous for him, but he passed with flying colors. On December 2nd, 2016 Jo Anne and John had a graduation party for him. After the party we told Brad, Leslie and Anna Traylor (his puppy raising family) that we would see them again soon and Campbell, 20 months old, and I began our journey together.
Campbell and I have such an amazing bond. He knows when I’m not feeling well physically, emotionally or mentally. When we are out, he doesn’t want to always “make friends” and when he doesn’t, he will ignore you. If I’m having a good day and I’m asked if he can be petted, I will ask him to make friends. If he chooses to then he will situate himself so that he can still see me. Overall, he loves people.
I suffer from hemiplegic migraines, which he can sense well before they come on (sometimes hours). His warning is to push against me from the front. Because of his size and strength, he has helped my step-daughter lead me to my bed by placing himself in between my legs and pushing my left leg (which loses feeling) forward in a walking motion.
Be it his blanket, a toy, a sock or t-shirt, he greets me at the side of my bed every morning carrying something. If I tell him someone is coming to visit, he runs to the door in such excitement looking for them then makes childlike noises when I tell him they’re not coming yet. He loves his family. My son, Kyle, will play rough with him whereas Sissy is gentle. NaNa gives him treats and is loving just as a grandmother will be with her grandchildren. When I take him for his bath, which takes a few hours, I feel so empty without him beside me but I know Victoria (his bather) and Jess (his groomer) take very good care of him and love him very much. Because he doesn’t like the sound of the dryer, they wrap a towel around his head and he feels a need to sit on them.
