In addition to Charlotte, my Great Dane and Service Dog, we have two Chihuahuas, Luna (age 13.5) and George (age six) as of April 2018. My wife got Luna from a local breeder about two months before we met. We got George at about eight weeks old from a local pet store while I was in Mississippi working on my Ph.D. in Toxicology. Luna and George are very happy dogs that love to give attention when they feel it would be beneficial.
When my wife and I met, when we were first dating...this is almost 14 years ago...she had just gotten a Chihuahua. It was maybe six or eight weeks old. And I had my Great Dane Lizzy for about two months at that point in time. I had gotten her from a service/rescue group in Kentucky when she was five years old. I went there and they showed me a few dogs...then they showed me Lizzy...and I was like oh yeah...that's the one. And she was a great dog. She was a little more dominant, as a female, so if I took her out to a dog park I had to be careful with her. But she was great. I would go jogging in the neighborhood and she would go with me. She'd be trotting since she was such a big dog and I'd be jogging. It would be fine until she decided that she needed to use the bathroom. She wouldn't give any hint that she needed to stop...she just stopped with no warning. A 120-pound dog who stops dead in her tracks...it’s something I always had to be prepared for. Unfortunately, when I got orders to England, we ended up not being able to
