Guarding the LST Ramp
The first platoon, A Company, Fourth Marines was assigned to guard the LST ramp also known as the sand ramp in a channel near Chu Lai. 22@ The LSTs were supply ships that were able to sail up the channel and on to the sand ramp and anchor there. They were able to drop the ramp of the ship from the bow and off load supplies and equipment on to the shore.
