Shooting
Zhaire did not shoot 3s in high school. However, Texas Tech coaches were pleasantly surprised when he first got on campus and he showed a nice shooting touch. Zhaire got more and more comfortable shooting from the outside as his freshman year went on. He ended the year shooting 45% from 3 on limited attempts. However, He only shot 19% from 3 in 11 G- league games this year. Zhaire needs to use this summer to keep improving his shooting. Let’s look at some ways his shots can improve.
First, I noticed that his discipline got better. Earlier in the G-league season, he did not follow through or stick his landing. I know this was a point of emphasis from the 76ers and Blue Coats coaches as Zhaire told me during the season.
In his first few games, his shots looked like these.
Solution
But by the end of the season, his discipline was much better and most of his shots looked like these.
Zhaire is going the right direction with his discipline on his shot. The only way to improve this is to hold him accountable. Demand perfection in individual workouts and practices, and study game film to show him the impact of his discipline on his percentages.
