Proposte 2019 Held yearly on the picturesque shore of Lake Como, Proposte is a can't miss event for high-end home textiles mills and buyers. Clients here are furniture companies and fabric wholesalers, editors and suppliers; these mills have minimum purchase requirements and do not sell to interior designers. The strength and importance of pattern was evident at the show, with the mills showcasing many stunning designs, often in impressive large scales. Tapestry looks came on strong, and complex embroideries, multi- layer prints and fine multi-pick jacquard all maintained importance. From a fiber standpoint, outdoor continued to gain market share, with lots of new offerings in solution dyed acrylics and polypropylenes. Most notable were outdoor innovations in plain velvets, as well as double width sheers. Luxury fibers made a lovely impact as well, from silk velvets to alpacas to mohairs. At the upper end of the market, the sky is the limit. Kudos to the innovative and inspired collections created by the elite suppliers showcasing at Proposte! Sirio Tendaggi
