PATRIZIA ORTENZI is a second-generation textile artist, living and working in the hills above Como. She is also a bold personality: her joie-de-vivre infuses her work with vitality, and her enthusiasms are infectious. Her edgy sensibilities and one-of-a-kind artworks have earned her an impressive client list, which includes Ralph Lauren Home, York Wallcoverings, Cowtan & Tout, Valdese Weavers, Vanelli, and Romo. These companies purchase her designs, which come in the form of the screened artworks shown in these pages, accompanied by a digital file of a black-and-white rendering. The designs are then transformed into end products for both fashion and home furnishings. She was born into the business: her father and uncle launched their design studio in 1957. “Art flows through my veins,” says Patrizia, who joined her father’s studio in 1991. Brother Marco is also a textile designer, and worked in the family atelier from 1997 until Signore Ortenzi retired in 2009, at which point the siblings both founded their own studios: Patrizia under her own name and Marco as Creantes.
