in the neighborhood of narrow boats and floating ducks

against a cloudy sky
wet but bravely holding course just like me
in the little house
wine chimed with a thought pouring from mouth to mouth circling in veins warming inside and the walls swelled with moisture as the day cried with laughter
and night with despair
because you left loving and loved into the dark of other expectations and your duty
the wind blew fair
the birds crying in rhythm
as another day stood in the doorway drunk with the last day
as if for us
time had stopped
with your beautiful welcome
while about the canal
the morning breeze consecrated like a priest with holy water
