The main feature of Maria Duszka’s poetry is mindful awareness. Maria is able to focus both on her own romantic experiences and on those of others. And even on the whole “crazy world”:

Searching for the key to the creative work of the Hanami author, I notice it in her talent for “reading”:
you used to come and go away I always thought

However, before we begin to “read ourselves”, we must learn to “look at flowers”. Thanks to the poet and the title of her poem - Hanami, we learn that in Japan there is a custom of ad- miring the beauty of sakura. Admittedly, Poles also love cherry orchards – following in Chek- hov’s footsteps – but they much more often sing praises of rosebuds. Those rhyming with war and Jasieniek, with his return to his be- loved girlfriend.
In our tradition, there was no opportunity to calmly admire the beauty of blossoming trees. There’s no custom of contemplating them. We’re still waiting, along with Agniesz- ka Osiecka, blustering: ”niech no tylko zakwitną jabłonie” (only wait till the apple trees bloom). And time is running out...
Wordless “eye speech”, even at the greatest distance, requires the movement of the lips, reading oneself. Translation from a “foreign” language into one’s own.
