Welcome to issue # 9 our September edition.
I hope you are all staying clear of Covid, it can be nasty, even if you are vaccinated.
Lots of venues opening up for artists around the globe and as much as we need to get back to live music, keep practicing social distancing etc.
Lots of changes at Radiodowntown.ca, new radio playout software, new computer and mixer. Anytime you get new equipment as many of you artists will know, there is an adjustment time required. It would be nice if everything came just “plug and play”, but sadly not so. We are getting used to the new toys and finding lots of exciting things we can do as a result by learning, so its all good.
We tried to decide what else we can do for the unsigned or independent artists we play on our station. So what we came up with is to have them co-host on one of my shows. All that is needed by the co-host is a computer with a mic, headphones would help and Skype loaded on your computer.
As it happens, our first artist that will join me for a show is Wallace Mair, a Scottish artist now living in Australia. Yeah, so why not go big and half way around the world for the first one....lol
Wallace will be joining me on JukeBox Hwy 1 Show, Saturday September 4th at 8pm Toronto time, of course that will be Sunday morning in Australia.
Both Wallace and I are excited for this hosting event and we plan to chat and play some Wallace Mair tunes during the show which also features hits from the 60s70s80s.
I hope you are able to have a listen, there are already a few others that has expressed an interest in doing the same as Wallace, and i look forward to them as well.
