Jury Convicts Husband Of Killing Wife, Setting Car On Fire
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
On Friday, a Hillsborough County jury convicted a man for killing his wife and setting the car afire that contained her body. Christopher Belcher, 46, is facing a maximum sen- tence of life in prison.
Belcher was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree arson in the death of his wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn Patricia Belcher. She died in September 2012.
The murder investigation began as a missing person’s case filed by the family of Mrs. Belcher on September 16, 2012. One of her family mem- bers filed the report. Deputies responded to conduct a miss- ing person’s investigation around 4:30 p.m., that evening.
About two hours after the Missing Person’s Report was filed, other deputies responded to Taylor Road and Pruett Road in reference to a burned vehicle. Deputies determined

that the torched vehicle was a 2000 Nissan Maxima regis- tered to Mrs. Belcher. Police also found skeletal remains in- side the burned car. The re- mains were later identified as Mrs. Belcher by the Hills- borough County Medical Ex- aminer’s Office.
Her estranged husband, Christopher Belcher was arrested for domestic violence, but was released after the Hillsborough County State At-
torney’s Office dropped the charges.
When police went to his residence to arrest him on a warrant after his wife’s re- mains were identified, he had fled the scene.
A multi-agency law en- forcement task force tracked Belcher to his sister’s home in Greenville, South Carolina, on November 1, 2012. He was re- turned to Hillsborough County on November 8th, and his bond was set at $600,000.

Pain Won’t Go Away For Woman Who Lost Her Only Child To Violence
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
The bond between Angela Pearson and her only child, Levi Dixon, Jr. was very close. She was elated that he was so much into gospel music that not only did he perform, but composed music as well.
On July 27th 2008, Dixon was at home in West Tampa doing what he loved the most, composing music. He wasn’t at the house alone, however, as several of his friends were around.
According to Tampa Police homicide detectives, at some point Dixon, 17, was left alone inside the house and he report- edly thought the house was se- cured. Sometime during the early morning hours, Dixon was shot to death inside the home in what appeared to be a robbery. No one was ever ar- rested for the murder.
Ms. Pearson said as the years go by, she maintains faith that her son’s killer will be captured.
“It’s still hard for me to ac- cept Levi being gone. He never got the chance to finish his music and I know he had a great gift for the world. To shoot him and just leave him the way they did is not deserv- ing of a young man who only wanted to be a gospel music

star.
“I’m still making an appeal
for someone to come forward, because I feel like I’m dying in- side. I want peace and I want peace for my son.”
Ms. Pearson said she’d like to see Cold Case detectives putting more time and energy into finding out who killed her son, and the sons and daugh- ters of other parents.
“I want people to under- stand that this code of silence protects no one but a killer. I can’t imagine any parents wanting their child around knowing he or she has mur- dered someone.
“I’m making an appeal to the parents and friends of these killers to come forward and help capture who is re- sponsible for the pain and suf- fering all of us are enduring.
ANGELA PEARSON
Just do the right thing.”
Ms. Pearson said above all, she deserves to know why her son was killed, and how easy it’s been for the person
who did this to remain silent. “It takes a person who doesn’t have trouble sleeping at night to do this and not turn
themselves in.
“Not once do they think
about the parents and other loved ones who don’t deserve to have their child taken away from them this way.”
Ms. Pearson said she will continue to pray that Levi’s killer will be caught, and she also prays that the killers of other young people will be brought to justice as well.
