New Board Members Sworn In To Hillsborough County School Board

Chair and Vice Chair Elected
The Hillsborough County School Board welcomed two new School Board Members and two returning School Board Members during the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, November 22.
Lynn Gray was sworn in to
TAMARA SHAMBURGER ...District 5 Representative
represent District 7 County- wide. Mrs. Gray was elected in the November General Election representing all of Hillsborough County. Lynn Gray was a teacher and in- structional leader for 26 years in Hillsborough County. Mrs. Gray has been a local busi- ness owner for 16 years.

SUSAN VALDES ...Re-Elected In August To Represent District 1
was elected in the November General Election and was sworn in to represent District 5. Ms. Shamburger was born and raised in Tampa and is a graduate of Bloomingdale High School. She has worked in the insurance industry for 19 years and has also worked as a Mortgage Broker. She re- ceived her Master of Business

Susan Valdes was re- elected in the Primary election in August and represents Dis- trict 1. Mrs. Valdes was first elected to the School Board in 2004.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting,
the Hillsborough County School Board elected a new chair and vice chair. Cindy Stuart was selected to serve as School Board chair. This is the first time Cindy Stuart has served as chair. Sally Harris was selected as vice chair.
Commissioners Named To Boards And Committees
Last week, members of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, were names to serve on various boards and committees. They agreed to retain most of the same positions on which they serve during their annual or- ganizational meeting.
Some of the appointments include:
Newly sworn-in Commis- sioner Pat Kemp assumed many of the positions held by her predecessor in Countywide District 6. She will also serve on the Juvenile Justice Board.
Commissioner Al Hig- ginbotham will serve on the MOSI Board, Affordable Housing Advisory Board.
Commissioner Victor Crist will serve on the Arts
Council of Hillsborough County, the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, as Vice Chairman of the Environ- mental Protection Commis- sion, and on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
Chairman White will serve as an alternate on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
Commissioner Sandra Murman will serve on the Children's Board of Hillsbor- ough County, the Hospital Au- thority Board, the Port Authority Board, Tampa Bay Water Board of Directors.
Commissioner Les Miller, Jr., will serve as Chairman of the Environmen- tal Protection Commission. He will also serve on the Hospital
Authority Board.
Commissioner Ken Hagan will serve on the Tampa Bay Water Board of Di- rectors, Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp., and the Tampa Sports Author- ity.
Chairman Stacy R. White, Commissioners Murman, Kemp, and Miller will serve on the Hills- borough Area Regional Transit Authority.
Representatives and alter- nates to serve on the Public Transportation Commission are: Al Higginbotham, Pat Kemp, Ken Hagan, Stacy White, Les Miller, Jr., and Sandra Murman.
