100 high school students to be selected for all-ex- penses-paid mentoring ex- perience of a lifetime
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL — Applications are being ac- cepted now through Oct. 31, 2018, for the Disney Dream- ers Academy with Steve Harvey and Essence maga- zine. This annual outside- the-classroom mentoring program is scheduled for March 21-24, 2019, at the Walt Disney Resort in Florida.
The program helps 100 select high school students, ages 13-19, from across the United States jump-start their life goals and pursue their dreams.
Disney Dreamers Acad- emy turns the entire magical setting of Walt Disney World into a vibrant classroom. Students participate in a se-
ries of sessions and work- shops designed to help them imagine bright futures, make exciting discoveries and learn how to put their goals into action. Disney Dreamers engage in a wide variety of experiences at Walt Disney World while working side by side with celebrities, com- munity and industry leaders and Disney cast members.
Applicants must answer essay questions about their personal journeys and dreams for the future. Stu- dents are selected based on a combination of attributes, including strong character, positive attitude and deter- mination to achieve their dreams.

The Post Officers installed were: Comrade Johnnie D. HiSmith, Jr., Post Com- mander; Comrade Eunice Butts, First Vice-Comman- der; Comrade Dwayne Jones, Finance Officer; Comrade Henry W. Segar, Historian; Comrade Arnold Watson, Chaplain; Comrade Anthony E. Jones, Service Officer; Com- rade Jerry Moore, Ser- geant-At-Arms; Comrade Michael Dozier, Executive Committee; Comrade Larry Thompson, Executive Com-
mittee; and Comrade Ronald Boykins, Executive Committee.
The American Legion Carmichael-LeGree Post 167 is recognized as one of the best Posts in the state of Florida without a Post home. The Post continues to carry out the goals, ideas, volun- teering, helping veterans, the children and youth in the community, state and nation.
The American Legion Carmichael-LeGree Post 167 is the only African-American Post in Hillsborough County. The goal of the American Le- gion is to have a Post in every community.
Most importantly, at the recent 100th Anniversary American Legion State Con- vention in Orlando, Com- rade Eunice Butts of Tampa was elected to the high
office of Third Vice Com- mander for the American Le- gion Department of Florida (2018-2019).
Furthermore, Comrade Butts also serves as the first African American female on the Department of Florida line of offices.
Meanwhile, the American Legion Department of Florida made history by electing for the first time a female, Diane Boland as the Commander For The State Of Florida.
