For the past twelve years, Dr. Kim Moore has inter- acted with students. How- ever, in the new future, she will leave the school for an administrative position.
Dr. Moore has been chosen to serve as the Direc- tor of Administration for the Hillsborough County School District. Her selection to fill the role will be on the School Board agenda for approval on December 4th.
She is currently dividing her time between Middleton High School and the down- town office. Her replacement at Middleton High School has not been chosen. Dr. Moore will replace Ms. Tanly Cabrera, who retired last week.
Dr. Moore said of her promotion, “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to

Dr. Moore was assigned to Middleton High School in 2006 as the Assistant Princi- pal of Student Affairs. In 2014, Dr. Moore was cho- sen as the Principal of the School.

first time a woman had been chosen to serve as its princi- pal in the history of the school. She is also the longest serving administrator since the school reopened in 2002.
Middleton High School was named in honor of George S. Middleton, a businessman and civic leader. In 1934, the school opened to provide the educa- tional needs of African Amer- ican students in East Tampa. It remained opened 1971 when the schools were inte- grated.
The school was changed into a middle school at the time. At the request of the community when a new high school was approved for con- struction, it was decided to name it Middleton High School.
The school opened in 2002 at the intersection of N. 22nd Street and E. Osborne Avenue.
Dr. Moore is married to James Moore and they are parents of 5 children.
