Creed II - Under the training of Rocky Balboa ( Sylvester Stallone), light heavyweight contender Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) faces his biggest challenge against Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), son of Russ- ian Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). Another Black Director scores a Box Office Hit. Director Steven Caple, Jr. put together a dramatic, action-pack sequel that everyone would enjoy. Screenwriters Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) and Cheo Cooker (Notorious) did a great job bringing out the characters. A must-see for action fans! Made - $96M- U.S. foreign $23M (budget- $50M)- ****
Widows - Four Chicago women (Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriquez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erico) with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands (Liam Neeson), take fate into their own hands to save their live from a violent, debt-collecting drug gang (Brian Henry, Daniel Kaluua-Get Out). Director Steve McQueen put together a well-written crime thriller that might be the best this year. A MUST- SEE for action fans! Made 38M- U.S./foreign- $26M- (budget-$42M)- classic
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) - A chronicle of the years on how the iconic group Queen rose to fame that led to the legendary appearance at the LIVE AID in 1985. Lead singer Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) was one of the best singer, songwriter and performer’s of all-time. Director Bryan Singer did a great job keeping the film all about the music. Made $174M- U.S./ $422M- foreign- (budget- $52M)- ****
Hunter Killer - An Untested submarine captain (Gerard Butler) teams with the U.S. Navy Seals to go on a suicide mission to rescue the Russian president and stop a rogue general from starting a World War. Received bad reviews from the critics, but this underwater thriller was action-packed from start to finish. Must see for action fans. Made $15M- U.S./ (budget-N/A)- ***1/2
Halloween (2018) - A revengeful Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is prepared for a final confrontation with the psycho killer Michael Myers, who has stalked her for four decades. Director David Green did a great job keeping this horror film face-paced and suspenseful. Made - $159M-U.S./ $93 M- foreign- (budget- $10M)- ****
Venom (2018) - TV show host Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) acquires the powers of a symbiote (alien par- asite) who releases his alter-ego “Venom” to save Brock’s life. Must-see for marvel fans. Enjoyed it! Made - $212M-U.S./ foreign- $639M. (budget-$100M)- ****
Night School - A successful salesman, Teddy Walker (Kevin Hart) and a group of misfits are forced to attend night school with a fiesty teacher (Tiffany Haddish) in hope they'll pass the GED exam to high school. Produced by St. Pete native Will Packer and directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) takes you on a journey of Teddy reorganizing his life in a hilarious and entertaining way through education.
