Teenager Struck By Deputy Dies From Injuries
Man Charged With Armed Robbery

Police arrested a 25-year- old man and charged him with armed robbery. The ar- rest took place last Thursday.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, on December 9th, Cody Hen- derson approached a juve- nile victim at 1834 James L. Redman Parkway, in Plant City. Henderson is alleged to have engaged in conversa- tion.
Henderson is then al- leged to have produced a small handgun and placed it against the torso of the victim. He then demanded that the victim unlock his phone and remove the security pass code. The victim complied and Henderson snatched the phone and fled the scene.
The victim was able to identify Henderson using a photo lineup. Police arrested Henderson the following day and charged him with robbery with a firearm, child abuse, and false imprison- ment.

    A teenager died Friday after being struck by a deputy’s vehicle. The accident took place around 6:30 p.m., near 124th Avenue and Florida Avenue.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was driving on N. Florida Avenue, with the green light in her favor. She reportedly observed a teenager walking a bicycle across the street. She report-
edly swerved to avoid striking him. However, her vehicle struck another teenager. The teenager with bicycle was not injured.
However, the second teenager, who was 15-years- old, was fatally injured. The teenagers were not in the crosswalk as they attempted to cross the street.
No charges have been filed. The case remains under investigation.
  State Police Investigate Two Fatal Accidents
Early Saturday morning, a police officer shot a man who repeatedly charged him with a knife. The incident took place in the 2500 block of W. Kenmore Avenue.
At approximately 1:49 a.m., a police dispatcher re- ceived a call from a man. He told the dispatcher, “I apolo- gize to the cop that has to shoot me.”
When Tampa Police offi- cers arrived at the scene, the unidentified man was armed with a knife and charged at the officer. The officer tased the man. However, he con-
tinued to charge the officer. The officer attempted to back up, and in fear for his life, shot the suspect. The man dropped the knife, but continued to charge the offi- cer. He was tased a second time by officers who had ar- rived at the scene. He was fi- nally subdued and taken into
custody.
He was Baker Acted and
transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was ad- mitted.
Police expect the man to recover from his injury. None of the officers were injured.
State Police investigated two accidents this weekend. Both involved fatalities.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the first acci- dent took place in the north- bound lane of U. S. Highway 301 and Interstate 75. It oc- curred last Friday, around 5:25 p.m. Five vehicles were involved in the crash.
Ms. Debbie Ann Hansen, 43, of Ruskin, was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna and Ms. Peyton Lee Castellari, 18, of Riverview was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Pickup. Both Ms. Hansen and Ms. Castellari were stopped for other traffic.
Harold Earl Allen, 76, of Tampa, was driving a 2008 GMC Envoy. He reportedly failed to stop and collided with the back of Ms. Hansen’s vehicle. That vehi- cle was pushed forward and collided with the pickup truck.
Javier Gutierrez- Gomez, 49, of Riverview, was driving a 2004 Lincoln SUV and was unable to stop. His vehicle collided with the back of Allen’s vehicle. Allen’s vehicle then struck the vehicles driven by Ms. Hansen and Ms. Castel- lari for a second time.
Ms. Castellari’s vehicle then struck a 2016 GMC Sierra, driven by Brandon Cristopher Horton, 35, of Monticello, Minnesota.
Allen was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he expired from his in- juries.
Ms. Hansen and Hor-
ton did not report any in- juries.
Ms. Castellari and Gutierrez-Gomez were both transported to Brandon Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Gutierrez-Gomez was charged with not having a valid driver’s license. The in- vestigation is continuing.
In the second accident that took place on Saturday, around 4:30 p.m., two teenagers died. The accident took place at Florida Avenue and Garland Court.
According to police, Ms. Valentina Llanos, 17, of Coral Springs, was driving a 2019 Taoi, Motor Scooter. Her passenger was Ms. Na- talia Luna, 19, of Tampa.
Ms. Llanos was traveling westbound on Garland Court approaching the intersection of N. Florida Avenue. Peter Collum Taafee, II, 46, of Spring Hill, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Pickup truck. His passenger was Christo- pher Barnett, 33, of Land O’Lakes.
Investigators said Ms. Llanos initiated a left hand turn onto Florida Avenue and turned into the path of Taafee. As a result, the front of the pickup truck struck the motor scooter and both teenagers were ejected.
Ms. Llanos died at the scene. Ms. Luna was trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries.
There were no other in- juries reported and the inves- tigation is continuing.
