Former NFL Player
Pinellas Park Police de- tectives have arrested a homicide suspect.
On Friday, July 15th at approximately 9:00 a.m., de- tectives from the Pinellas Park Police Department while conducting further fol- low up in the homicidal death of Joseph Maiden, located and arrested Miguel Ale- jandro Haisten and ar- rested him with the murder of Maiden.
During the investigation, detectives were able to deter- mine that Maiden, who was homeless, had been squatting inside of an abandoned home for an extended period of time.
Detectives believe that Maiden and Haisten, who is also homeless, had been in- volved in an ongoing dispute over the occupation of the abandoned home.
Through investigative means, detectives were able
believe that upon forcing entry into the home Haisten attacked Maiden with the same plaster statue and other objects causing severe upper body trauma to the victim Maiden, causing his death.
Following the murder, Haisten fled the scene and the immediate area. Detec- tives learned of a possible court appearance on an unre- lated misdemeanor charge that Haisten had. When Haisten arrived at the Pinel- las County Justice Center, detectives took him into cus- tody without incident. Hais- ten was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he is being held without bond for first-degree murder charge.
Haisten declined to pro- vide any statement about the murder. The investigation is ongoing with no other arrests expected to be made in this investigation.

A 31-year-old former NFL player has been arrested and charged with aggravated as- sault. He was accused of pointing a gun at two people.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Orson Reuben Charles was at the intersection of 18th Street and 8th Avenue in Ybor City, last Friday and charged with ag- gravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying con- cealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
During the investigation, police said Orson Charles was sitting in his vehicle, when another vehicle was at- tempting to park in the park- ing lot.
Charles is alleged to have exit his vehicle and ap- proached the driver side of the victim’s vehicle to engage in a confrontation over the parking spot. The victims are said to have told him they were police officers and dis- played their badges, which allegedly did not stop Charles’s actions. He re-

Charged After Pointing
Man Arrested For Impersonating A Police Officer
Police have arrested a man accused of impersonat- ing a police officer. Detectives arrested 26-year-old John Inglis and charged him with the crime.
The incident that led to the arrest took place on Sat- urday in the Highwoods Pre- serve Parkway on Bruce B. Downs.
According to the Tampa Police Department, police re- sponded to a report of a sus- picious SUV with red and blue lights acting like a police officer in the area of New Tampa Blvd. and Bruce B. Downs last Saturday morn- ing.
Officers had previously been alerted by the Florida Highway Patrol of a similar vehicle, where a firearm was taken by the impersonating officer on Interstate 75 earlier in the morning.
A Tampa Police officer saw the suspect vehicle, a 2020 gray Range Rover, on Bruce B Downs Boulevard. The suspect, later identified
JOHN INGLIS
as John Inglis, had activated flashing red and blue lights, pulled over the victims, approached their ve- hicle, and asked for their dri- ver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance.
While holding the docu- ments, Inglis looked at the officer who had just pulled up, returned the documents to the victim, and walked to- wards his vehicle where he was arrested before he could enter it.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Inglis had been issued an
active Risk Protection Order (RPO). He was subsequently charged for violating the RPO, as well as imperson- ating a police officer and his vehicle was seized.
While searching the vehi- cle, police discovered a gun inside the vehicle. The gun was consistent with the type of gun stolen during the inci- dent being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol, po- lice said.
Police said if citizens sus- pect the person puling you over is impersonating a police officer, the driver should employ the following safety tips:
Signal your intent and slow down (activate your haz- ard lights); call 9-1-1 to con- firm it is an officer; be sure to provide the call-taker with your location, vehicle descrip- tion and license plate; keep your doors locked while the dispatcher checks; and ask the officer for their name and badge number, and confirm the information with 9-1-1.
