City Of Tampa Black History Committee Preparing To Present Scholarships
For well over two decades now, the City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. (COTBHC) has recognized City of Tampa employees, supported local youth, and celebrated Tampa’s rich African-American heritage. Under the guidance of for- mer presidents Mr. Bobby Bowden; the late Mrs. Janett S. Martin; Mrs. Bettye Greene Johnson; Mr. Frank Crum; and now Mrs. Celeste Gibbons- Peoples, the practice con- tinues.
This year is no different as the committee prepares to recognize some of the best and brightest African-Ameri- can students in Hillsborough County through the annual scholarship program taking place Tuesday, May 17, 2016, 6 P. M.-7:30 P. M. at the Hol- iday Inn Express 700 North Westshore Drive, Tampa.

arship dollars to deserving African-American high- school students in the City of Tampa and Greater Hillsbor- ough County.
The theme this year is “Paying Tribute to African American Music Legends.” The goal, purpose and mis- sion is to motivate, inspire and encourage youth to en- deavor to pursue a higher ed- ucation.
“Sometime finances can become a barrier for this dream, and here’s where we do our best to make a differ- ence in the lives of young people seeking to further
their education,” states

The 1st Annual City of Tampa Black History Com- mittee, Inc. Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday, April 30th at 8:30 a. m. at the Rogers Park Golf Course, 7910 North 30th Street, Tampa, 33610.
This event will assist in raising funds to provide scholarships to outstanding high school graduates before they head off to the college or university of their choice. This great event offers an op- portunity for your organiza- tion to reach the Tampa Bay area with your brand and tar- geted message via the golf tournament.
Applications for scholar- ships and the golf tourna- ment information can be located on the City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. website http://www.cityoftam- pablackhistorycommit- tee.org/. All scholarship applications are due no later than Friday, April 15, 2016.
