Transforming His Body
Reaches Deal To
JAMEIS WINSTON
Jameis Winston is converting his body from this look to a more leaner look.
ROBERT GRIFFIN III
The Cleveland Browns ap- pear to have found one piece to their quarterback puzzle, an- nouncing they have signed Robert Griffin III on Thurs- day.
Griffin, who made the deci- sion after meeting with Browns coach Hue Jackson and asso- ciate head coach Pep Hamil- ton, is guaranteed $6.75 million and can make up to $11 million with incentives in 2016 as part of the two-year, $15 mil- lion deal.
Griffin received a $3.5 sign- ing bonus and a fully guaran- teed base salary of $3.25 million this season. He can make another $750,000 in per- game roster bonuses and $3.5 million in individual perform- ance incentives for playtime, passing yards and passer rat- ing.
The 26-year-old Griffin was released by the Washington Redskins on March 7, two days before his 2016 option, worth $16,155,000, would have be- come guaranteed.
Ex-Raven Terrence Cody Gets Nine Months In Animal Cruelty Case
TERRENCE CODY
Former Baltimore Ravens nose tackle Terrence Cody was sentenced to nine months in a Baltimore County deten- tion center in his animal cru- elty case, according to The Baltimore Sun.
Cody, 27, had faced the pos- sibility of receiving two years in jail. He was convicted in No- vember on charges of aggra- vated animal cruelty and neglect, illegal possession and neglect of an alligator and pos- session of marijuana.
Prosecutors argued that Cody and his girlfriend, Kourtney J. Kelley, had neg- lected the dog, a Canary mas- tiff, until it starved to death over the course of about a month.
The animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treat- ment of Animals, released a statement on Thursday criticiz- ing Cody and the National Football League for its han- dling of such matters.
TRAY WALKER Steve Smith. Harbaugh
was one of several speakers at the funeral and offered a touching sermon.
"The first thing I noticed was the smile, the big Tray Walker smile," Harbaugh said of his first encounter with Walker.
Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback, Jameis Win- ston, is building his body and also, his career. He fig- ures his future success on the gridiron must begin with pumping iron.
That has not always been Winston’s mindset. How- ever in January after arriving at the Pro Bowl for practice, he noticed how different the bodies of Falcons wide re- ceiver Julio Jones and quarterback Russell Wil- son looked in comparison
with his own.
That’s when Winston
and his agents went over a list of trainers, and selected Tim Grover of Attack Ath- letics, who used to put Michael Jordan through torturous workouts. That program has continued with trainers at One Buc Place along with a better nutri- tional program.
Winston still weighs 235 pounds, but his 22-year- old physique appears much leaner.
Ex-Texans WR Nate Washington Signs With Patriots
Join Browns
MIAMI -- Hundreds of fam- ily members and friends, members of the Baltimore Ravens and NFL Players Asso- ciation executive director De- Maurice Smith were among those who gathered Saturday to memorialize and mourn the death of cornerback Tray Walker.
Walker died March 18, one day after being critically in- jured in a dirt bike crash in Liberty City, Florida. He was 23.
Approximately 45 Ravens coaches, executives and play- ers were in attendance for Walker's funeral, including head coach John Harbaugh, general manager Ozzie New- some and wide receiver
Bucs Have Best RB Duo? Le'Veon Bell Calls That 'Comedyyyyyyy'
LE'VEON BELL , DOUG MARTIN AND CHARLES SIMS
The New England Patriots have signed unrestricted free- agent wide receiver Nate Washington, the team an- nounced Thursday. Terms of the deal were not immedi- ately available.
Washington, 32, played last season for the Houston Texans, who are coached by former New England offen- sive coordinator Bill O'Brien and run an offen- sive system similar to the Pa- triots.
The Patriots hosted Washington on a free-agent visit March 14, as they looked to add another pass-catching target after signing Chris Hogan to a three-year, $12 million contract three days
NATE WASHINGTON
earlier.
In addition to Washing-
ton and Hogan, the Pats currently have Julian Edel- man, Danny Amendola, Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper and DeAndre Carter on the receiver depth chart.
Doug Martin and Charles Sims comprise a fine tailback pair. But Le'Veon Bell won't even en- tertain the thought of those two surpassing the Steelers' tandem of Bell-DeAngelo Wiliams in the positional pantheon.
Bell must have seen the message from the @NFL Twitter feed this week that read: 'The top RB duo in the league? Don't sleep on these guys from the @TBBucca- neers.'
Bell replied directly to Williams with the message "comedyyyyyyy."
NFL.com story isn't claim- ing that Martin/Sims is the best duo. It's a story built around Bucs GM Jason Licht saying at the NFL own- ers meetings that Martin/Sims "absolutely" can be that. Every team is conditioned to think its play-
ers are the best, and the Steel- ers are no different. If you sur- vey the Steelers' locker room, they'll say they have the best everything on offense: best quarterback, best receiver, best running back and best of- fensive line.
Martin and Sims com- bined for 2,763 yards last year, more than the 1,966 be- tween Bell and Williams. The context is that Bell missed 10 games to injury and suspension and the offense played without Ben Roeth- lisberger for four games, which stunted pass-catching opportunities for Bell. Williams scored 11 touch- downs, tying Martin and Sims' combined total.
Based on the eye test, guessing most would agree with Bell's assertion that he and Williams are a better pair. Perhaps 2016 will deter- mine for sure.
Home Of Convicted Former NFL Player Aaron Hernandez For Sale
The house of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has a $1.5 million price tag.
The home of former New England Patriots superstar tight end and convicted mur- derer Aaron Hernandez is on the market.
The 5,600-square-foot house in North Attleborough -- not far from Gillette Sta- dium -- is listed for sale at $1.5 million.
Video surveillance from the five-bedroom, six-bath- room home was key in Her- nandez's murder trial last year for the 2013 killing of a
man who was dating the sis- ter of Hernandez's fiancee. One video showed Her- nandez holding what ap- peared to be a gun in his front hallway less than 10 minutes
after the killing. Hernandez is serving life
without parole and is await- ing trial for a 2012 double murder in Boston. He has pleaded not guilty.
A judge approved the home sale as part of a law- suit.
