Bernard Thomas, better known as Bishop Bullwin- kle, died at the age of 70 years old. The Floridian pastor, singer and comedian, is best known for the viral song Hell 2 Da Naw Naw.

Mayor Jane Castor has hired an individual to serve as her Director of Strategic Initia- tives. Ms. Marley Wilkes will assume duties that include tracking and executing Mayor Castor’s strategic initiatives that she campaigned on.
Monica Williams Har- ris, Esq., has always known that she would be a mother. What she didn’t know was how she was going to be a mother.
Her unique journey is cap- tured in her recently published children’s book, God’s Promise, after she and her husband, Keith Harris adopted a little boy.
Lorenzo McC0y, who
spent the last 23 years in prison, is grateful for that time – it made him a better man.
McCoy, 49, was released because he was a juvenile when the offense occurred, McCoy was released from prison through the Juvenile Sentencing Act.
Mr. Robert “Bob” Mitchell died of an apparent heart attack at Tampa General Hospital. Mr. Mitchell, 86, was a pitcher in the historic Negro Baseball League. He launched his career with the Florida Negro League in 1951, being chosen as a pitcher with the West Palm Beach team.
Frank Reddick, former Tampa City Council Chair- man, has filed to run for the Hillsborough County Commis- sion, District 3. The seat is
being vacated by Commis- sioner Chairman Les Miller, Jr., due to term lim- its.
On June 20, 1969, Tampa attorney Arthenia Joyner earned her
place in his-
tory as the
first African
American
woman to
practice law
in Hillsborough County. On Thursday, June 20, 2019, Senator Joyner celebrated her 50th Anniversary as the only African American woman to practice law continuously in this state.
A scholarship was created in honor of
14-year-old
Hezekiah Walters, who died during foot- ball condi-
tioning practice at Middleton High School. His family, along with Men Of Vision, Inc., has established a scholarship.
Dr. George Cohen was honored by
the Florida
State Univer-
sity College
of Medicine
and their
partner, Der-
matology Associates of Talla- hassee, by the naming of a building in his honor. He is married to Tampa native, Mrs. Liz York Cohen.
Eight years ago, former
Mayor Bob Buckhorn
hired the first African Ameri- can to serve as the Chief Fi- nancial Officer for the City of Tampa. Mayor Jane Castor announced that Ms. Sonya C. Little had resigned her post to pursue other interests. She left the position on August 1st.
