Michael Jordan Donates $7M To Build Medical Clinics
MICHAEL JORDAN
Hornets owner Michael Jordan is donating $7 million to launch medical clinics that he hopes will help at-risk com- munities in Charlotte.
It's the largest philanthropic donation ever by the former NBA champion.
The donation will fund two Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Clinics, which are pro- jected to open in 2020.
Jordan's spokesperson Estee Portnoy said on Mon- day that the Hornets owner "feels so great about being able to impact the Charlotte com- munity and help people who re- ally deserve it. Michael and Novant are really excited about this project."

Cavs' Final Starting Job For
Jemele Hill Suspension
Cleveland's Opening Night
In the wake of Jemele Hill’s two-week suspension Monday by ESPN for what the network called violations of its social media policy, Michael Smith declined to anchor the 6 p.m. edition of “SportsCen- ter” that day without his usual co-host. Another anchor, Matt Barrie, filled in, but Smith was back on set Tuesday with- out a partner — an arrange- ment that will last until Hill returns.
As confirmed to The Wash- ington Post by an ESPN spokesman, Smith is ex- pected to host “SC6′′ by him- self for the rest of the next two weeks. Hill was suspended after posting tweets suggesting that fans could boycott adver- tisers who work with the Dal- las Cowboys, following team owner Jerry Jones’s an- nouncement that any of his players who failed to stand for the national anthem would get benched.

ESPN cited those tweets as “a second violation” of its so- cial media guidelines, coming about a month after Hill called President Trump “a white supremacist.” She was sharply criticized for that com- ment by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who called it “a fire- able offense,” and ESPN re- portedly tried to take her off the air that day before Smith refused to do the show and other network anchors de- clined to fill in. ESPN denied that version of events.
With just about a week until the Cleveland Cavaliers- begin the regular season against the Boston Celtics, Cavs coach Tyronn Lue named Dwyane Wade his fifth and final starter for open- ing night. Wade, a 12-time All-Star and three-time cham- pion, will replace JR Smith at shooting guard.
"I just wanted to do it," Lue explained after practice Monday.
Wade will join a starting lineup of Derrick Rose at point guard, LeBron James at small forward, Jae Crow- der at the 4 and Kevin Love at the 5 as the Cavs start their campaign hoping to avenge a loss to the Golden State War- riors in the NBA Finals in June.
James, sidelined since the second day of training camp with a sprained left ankle, will join the rest of the

starters back on the court for the Cavs' final two preseason games Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls and Friday against the Orlando Magic to practice the lineup before the curtain comes up on the sea- son and they have to face Kyrie Irving and the Celtics.
"It's been hard since Le- Bron's been out, but just something we're going to do to start the season and see how it works," Lue said.
