College Student Saves Elderly Woman From Burning House
A Maryland college student risked it all to save a woman from her burning home.
Tré Williams usually takes the bus to and from Anne Arundel Commu- nity College, but he decided to walk home to enjoy the nice weather. This change in plans ended up saving Gail John- ston. While enjoying his walk, the 20-year-old saw a house engulfed in flames. The young man knocked on the door, bravely entered the house and got the 80-year-old out safely.
“I didn’t really think much. I just, it was just an in- stinct,” Williams told WBAL TV. “So I jumped over the fence and I opened the door and saw that her arm was tan- gled up, so I just took her off of it, and that’s when she just kept saying, ‘What’s happen- ing? What’s happening?’ I grabbed her, put her arm around my shoulder and I just kept saying, ‘We’ve got to go.’”
Johnston made it out of the Wednesday fire without
any injuries thanks to the heroics of Williams.
After Johnston’s grand- children tracked Williams down on social media, they praised him for his courage and for being a good Samari- tan.
The family’s thankful their mom is still alive and that’s in large part due to Williams, Johnston’s daughter, Car- leen Perez, told WBAL TV.
“I ran up and gave him a hug and said, ‘Thank you,’ and he said, ‘You’re welcome,’ like it wasn’t a big deal,” Perez said. “It is a big deal, you know? You’re really im- portant! Just the fact that you took that initiative, you took that step to go into a burning building.”
Like James Shaw, Jr. from the Tennessee Waffle House shooting, Williams continues to say that he isn’t a hero and was just doing the right thing.

“We are so excited for these concert events that will uplift our community and showcase our excellence,” CEO and Music Director, Maestro Jason Ikeem Rodgers states. “Our Mother’s Day Concert will re- ally celebrate the vital role that not only mothers play in our families and communi- ties, but women as a whole.
Complete with an 18-piece orchestra, Maestro accompa- nying on a rare white grand piano, and African-American female opera singers – this concert promises to be a show-stopping display of ex- cellence.

Trayvon Martin’s Killer To Face Judge AGAIN!
George Zimmerman
made headlined Monday eve- ning (May 7th) when he was charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly stalking a private investigator. Court records re- veal 34-year-old Zimmer- man “did willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly follow, harass or cyber stalk” Dennis Albert Warren.
The charges were filed in Seminole County Court in March, and Zimmerman will reportedly appear in court for an arraignment May 30. The stalking took place in De- cember.
In July 2013, George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the shooting death of 17-year-old, unarmed Tray- von Martin. Their fatal en- counter took place on Feb. 26, 2012 when Zimmerman, who was then a self-appointed neighborhood watchman in Sanford, Florida, called 911 to report suspicious figure wal- king in the neighborhood. Martin, who was wearing a dark hoodie, went to a local 7- Eleven to purchase Skittles and ice tea. Zimmerman fol-

Martin’s death sparked nationwide protests and reig- nited conversation about gun violence and the justice sys- tem. Since then, both Mar- tin’s parents have spoken in length about the importance of common-sense gun laws.
While Zimmerman was able to avoid prison, in 2016, Matthew Apperson was sentenced to 20 years for fi- ring a single-shot at Zimmer- man in a heated road-rage incident that took place the year prior.

Police Called On Black Women Checking Out Of Airbnb In California
RIALTO, CA —- A group of three African American filmmakers who were vacationing at an Airbnb rental home in Rialto, California say they were surrounded by police and detained after a white neighbor called the police. She told the police that she was concerned about a group of Black people who were taking luggage out of a house.
The women had not committed any crime of any sort, and Kells Fyffe-Marshall, one of the women in the group, says the incident left her “angry, upset and frustrated.”
She wrote on her Facebook page: “The offi- cers came out of their cars demanding us to put our hands in the air. They informed us that there was also a helicopter tracking us. They locked down the neighborhood and had us standing in the street.”
She continued, “About 20 minutes into this misunderstanding it escalated almost instantly. Their Sergeant arrived... he explained they didn’t know what Airbnb was. He insisted that we were lying about it and said we had to prove it. We
showed them the booking confirmations and phoned the landlord... because they didn’t know what she looked like on the other end to confirm it was her.. they detained us – because they were investigating a felony charge – for 45 minutes while they figured it out.”
Another one of the women, Donisha Pren- dergast, who happens to be Bob Marley’s daughter, also posted a video recording the inci- dent on her Instagram account.
Airbnb has since issued a public statement addressing the unfortunate incident.
