MR. BRUCE LYNN HAYNES
A Celebration of Life Serv- ice for Mr. Bruce Lynn “Booman” Haynes will be held Saturday October 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St John Progres- sive MB Church, 2504 Chipco St., Tampa, Florida with Pastor Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., officiating.
Bruce Lynn “Booman” Haynes, born to the late Willard Alexander Haynes, Sr. and Elsie Marie Haynes, in Tampa, FL on March 28, 1966. He was ushered home to be with the Lord at the age of 56 on September 16th, 2022. He passed away peacefully in his home while doing a few of the things that he loved, creating art and connecting with friends and family. His legacy is well known throughout the East Tampa neighborhood where he was known as Mr. Fix it, The Magic Man and many other ca- reer names. The College Hill project is where he grew up and spent the majority of his 56 years of his life.
Bruce was a talented artist, incredible cook and builder of all things as a skilled contrac- tor. He was a dedicated and supportive partner and loving husband of 23 years to his best friend, Maria Ortiz-Haynes. Although he was a strong man physically, he was an even stronger man of faith and lived as a lifelong servant of Jesus. He loved his mother and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles along with all of the life- long friends he intentionally kept in touch with.

On September 11, 1965, Lewis enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served for 4 years, 01 month, and 09 days. While in the Marines he received the Na- tional Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with 2 stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal with device, 2 Good Con- duct Medals and the Purple Heart with Gold. Lewis retired as an E-5 Sergeant with an Hon- orable discharge. He then joined the Hillsborough County employment system where he worked for 30 years at the Dorothy Thomas School of Lake Magdalene, where he retired as a Supervisor. He worked with and helped a host of juveniles that entered the system.
Lewis enjoyed watching foot- ball and his favorite teams were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys. His favorite foods were steak and hamburg- ers and drinking Vernon’s sodas and milkshakes. He also loved anything sweet, cake, cookies, candy and pies. He also had a love for dogs, specifically Ger- man Shepherd (Teddy), Dober- mans (Brutus and Smokey).
Mr. Lewis Alton Rioland, Sr.’s sunset was on September 22, 2022. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Elouise Rioland Daniels and Elmo Ri-
oland; grandparents, Janie and her husband; his brother, Ken- neth Rioland, Sr.; daughter, Onika Rioland; mother-in-law, Pearl Lee Clemons; great grand- parents-in-law, Alice and Mitchell Martin; brothers-in- law, Arthur Clemons, Freddie Clemons, Frank Bryant, Sr., Bobby Cummings, Jr., and his sister-in-law, Cynthia Burr.
He leaves to mourn his pass- ing: his devoted, loving and car- ing wife of 52 years, Priscilla Rioland; daughters, Patrice Ri- oland (Tampa), Pamela Rioland (Orlando) and son, Lewis (Popa) Rioland (Tampa); grandchil- dren, David Smith, Jr., Daisha Smith, Daniella Smith, Devin Smith, all of Tampa, Rashad Guy, Chloe Bey, both of Orlando, Tyree Figgins, Tyler Rioland), Lanika Johnson, Christian Johnson, Faith Johnson, Destin Johnson and LaNijah Rioland (Lisa Hayes), all of Tampa, FL; 1 great grandchild, Michael Williams of Tampa; 2 lifelong devoted friends, Bishop A. J. Richardson, Jr., of Texas and Melvin Collins of Tampa; 3 great-great grandchildren; nephews, Kenneth Rioland, Jr. and wife, and Jonathan Rioland and wife; sister-in-law, Joan Walker and family; a host of great nieces and nephews; cousin, Joyce Scott and other relatives and friends.

   worked with the Abe Brown Prison Crusade Ministry for years and founded and organ- ized Men and Women of Power, an advocacy organization that worked toward peace in his neighborhood. A strong believer in the power of community, “Booman” had a knack for bring- ing people together through his organizing, activism and cam- paign work, working with many politicians and community or- ganizers throughout the Tampa Bay area.
Working at Bexley Fish Mar- ket as a youngster for many years, he was still known to this day for giving away fish. His compassion in helping others only grew from there, giving you food from his own refrigerator, clothes from his own closet and shoes off his own feet while his ability to make others laugh and feel safe was remarkable.
Bruce is survived by: his wife, Maria Ortiz Haynes; chil- dren, Chandra Mendez-Ortiz (Cecilia), Alejandro Ortiz (Sarah), Nestor Ortiz (Rosie); brothers, Carl Haynes, David Haynes (Stephanie), Derrell Haynes and Micheal Haynes; sis- ters, Janice Haynes, Alwyn Bell (Brian) and Cheryl Haynes; sis- ter/niece, Deborah Haynes; nieces, Camille Upshaw (Rick), Shonea, Janice, Cecelia Bell, Timekia Norris, Keisha Alexan- dre (Neil), Sonya McNair (Elliot), Melea Wolfe (Phillip), Markeisha Haynes, Caleshia Haynes, Dorian Standish (Ryan), Brianna Middleton (Robert) and Joia Leon; nephews, Brian Bell, Jr., Carl Haynes, Jr., Marcus Haynes (April), Randy Haynes (Myra), Tujuan Haynes, Monte- rio Haynes, Corey Haynes, Lind- sey Jackson, Jr., Christopher Haynes, Eli Haynes, Matthew Haynes and Jason Bailey (Dam- ica); he also leaves behind nu- merous grandchildren, great nieces, nephews, as well as a plethora of cousins, friends and co-workers.
There will be a viewing on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 3:00- 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida. Due to the current CDC restrictions; we are asking that you use the visi- tation as an opportunity to pay your final respect. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Lewis (Butch) Alton Ri- oland, Sr., who was called home on Thursday, September 22, 2022, will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Wil- son Funeral Home, 3000 North 29th Street, Tampa, Florida 33605, with Bishop A.
