Local Baltimore Native Disturbed By Riots
‘Stop The Violence’ March Held In Sulphur Springs
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
It is really painful for Don- ald L. Dowridge, local moti- vational speaker, to see the turmoil in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.
“I grew up in Baltimore during a rough period of gang activity, drugs, and a lot of vi- olence. I became optimistic that those old days were gone.
“I’ve been in constant con- tact with some of the leaders in Baltimore to see how I can be of assistance with the youth there. Now, I’m waiting on a response from the Baltimore City Council and other branches of leadership.”
Dowridge said he has love for his city and he carries Bal- timore in his heart no matter where he goes.
“I look back to 1968 and re- member that period of dark- ness so vividly.”
Dowridge invites every- one to visit his Facebook page to read his message to the people of Baltimore in an effort to help them heal.
“It hurts me deeply that we

are still hurting each other back home, and there’s so much anger among the young people.
“For the past 23 years, I’ve worked hard to mentor and motivate the young people in Tampa. Now, it looks like it’s time for me to take it back to my hometown and see if I can be a part of the rebuilding and healing.”
