B.B. King Under Hospice Care
B.B. KING
After falling ill while on tour last fall, legendary blues musi- cian B.B. King on Friday ac- knowledged that he was in hospice care at his home in Las Vegas.
King, 89, was treated Thursday at a hospital near his home in Las Vegas, Nev., for complications of high blood pressure and diabetes, accord- ing to Laverne Toney, a long- time business associate with legal control over his affairs, writes the news outlet. King was diagnosed with diabetes decades ago, she told AP, and he wishes to be cared for at home.
Toney said King on Friday acknowledged his illness and thanked fans on his official website for fans' well-wishes and prayers.
An ambulance was called to the house Thursday after what was described as a domestic dispute between Toney and one of King’s daughters, Patty, over his medical care, the report notes. No arrests were made, and no criminal complaint was filed.
It was the musician’s second hospitalization in a month, and comes after he canceled the final shows of his 2014 tour in October after becoming ill in

new ad for his fragrance, 3AM, was too racy for execs at Macy’s.
But when the hip-hop mogul was told to re-edit his commercial several times to tone down the explicit scenes with his girlfriend Cassie, we hear, the perfume launch was nearly delayed.
The ad, recently shot in LA, featured Combs, 45, and Cassie, 28, in fast-paced scenes that included nudity, simulated sex and at least one nipple ring. Reportedly, cops even came in to break up the shoot.
“The full-length version includes such provocative im- ages that retailers were con- cerned about young customers seeing [them],” said an insider.

delayed the [fragrance] launch,” the source contin- ued. “In an attempt to bypass the censors, Combs tried to get the commercial [out on cable channels], but it was still deemed too racy” by the networks.
Combs agreed to re-cut the risqué sequences to get approval from Macy’s execs to run the ad in its stores, and the changes then threatened to delay his 3AM launch this week.
On Thursday (April 30), writer and singer of the clas- sic 1961 R&B/Soul ballad “Stand By Me,” Ben E. King, passed away at the age of 76, according to his publi- cist Phil Brown.
Born Benjamin Earl Nelson, King started out with The Five Crowns that became The Drifters in the 1950s; co-writing their hit single “There Goes My Baby,” which hit No. 2 in 1959. He also sang on their single “Save The Last Dance For Me.”
As it turns out, King wrote “Stand By Me” for The Drifters, but the manager turned it down, so King de- cided to sing it himself. The song went to the U.S. Top 5.

name in the 1980s, the song once again shot to No. 1 in the UK for three weeks.
King's other hits in- cluded “Spanish Harlem,” “Amor,” “Don't Play That Song (You Lied)” and “Super- natural Thing - Part I.” “Stand By Me,” “Spanish Harlem” and “There Goes My Baby” were all named on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll, and were all given a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

Chris Brown Named ‘MC Icon’ By Music Choice
TURK AND BIRDMAN
The Cash Money Records fallout is just beginning.
A judge has sided with Turk in his lawsuit against Cash Money Records. After suing the label for unpaid money owed to him, Turk filed a default motion last month when Cash Money missed the extended deadline to respond to the litigation.
A U.S. District Court judge in Louisiana has granted Turk the default motion. The judge will now decide how much money Cash Money and its publishing wing Money Mack will have to pay Turk for past royalties and other profits.
Turk originally asked for at least $1.3 million when he filed the suit earlier this year. He also requested for Cash Money to provide an accurate ac- counting of revenue made from his musical recordings for the company.

Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ hit “Uptown Funk” harkens back to the golden age of funk, so to avoid a lawsuit similar to the recent ‘Blurred Lines’ jury decision, and to protect their earnings, they’ve added five new writing credits to the song, according to RCA documents.
According to Billboard, Ronson and Mars have added legendary funk masters Charlie, Robert, and Ron- nie Wilson of The Gap Band to the credits as con- tributors to “Uptown Funk,” giving credit to the fact they used elements of the veteran band’s 1979 track “Oops Up Side Your Head.”
Along with the Gap
Band, rapper Trinidad James (listed as Nicholas Williams on the credits) along with producer Devon Gallaspy also got a credit for the use of a sample of James' track “All Gold Everything.”
A lawyer for Trinidad James’ manager told Bill- board, "Everyone is being a little more cautious. Nobody wants to be involved in a law- suit.”
The original credits of “Uptown Funk” include Ron- son and Mars, plus co-pro- ducer Jeffrey Bhasker and Phillip Lawrence from Mars' production team The Smeezingtons.
“Uptown Funk” topped the U.S. chart for 14 weeks.
