West Tampa Residents Prepare For Next Step In CRA
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
Last Thursday at the Mar- tin Luther King, Jr. Center in West Tampa, the second public meeting was held in advance of implementing the West Tampa CRA.
Drew Park and West Tampa CRA Manager, Jeanette Fenton, explained to the residents what phase im- plementing the CRA is in right now, and what lies ahead.
“The first order of business will be for County Commis- sioners to vote on extending the southern boundary of the CRA to Kennedy Boulevard. That’s supposed to happen on May 6, then it will go back to the City Council for final ap- proval.
“We are comfortable with the way things are moving with getting the CRA started in West Tampa, and we are in the process of setting up the part- nership that will be necessary in moving forward with proj- ects identified by the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) once it has been put in place. We still have a few hurdles to jump before that process will begin.
Fenton said if the CRA process isn’t finished by July 1st, it will result in the loss of revenue for one year.
West Tampa CDC Vice- Chair, Joe Robinson, gave Fenton a document of the West Tampa CRA Strategic Action Plan Recommendations identi- fied by the CDC.
“During the past 8 years,

residents and business owners of West Tampa have listed some economic development activities as priority in devel- oping West Tampa.
Identified were 19 points considered priorities. Among them are resident assistance in starting businesses, financing, mass transit, resident employ- ment, façade grants to busi- nesses, the removing of barriers of employment, and the enforcement of health codes of food related busi- nesses in West Tampa.
Robinson also said as far as the stretch of Main Street between Rome Avenue and Ar- menia, he expects full attention to be paid to that project and that its redevelopment be made a top priority.
“If people are to come into West Tampa seeking to open a new business, Main Street has got to look better than it does now.
“I don’t want to hear any excuses for Main Street being neglected. If it happens again,

I can promise the City that there will be action taken by the CDC and every group in West Tampa.”
The residents and business owners attending the meeting wanted to know about how the CAC works, and how will the various projects being priori- tized.
“Once the CRA is up and running and a project has been identified, first it will go before the CAC, who will recommend the project be done to the CRA,” said Fenton.
“They have the final vote, and I can tell you that even if I’m uncomfortable with a rec- ommendation coming from the CAC, I present it to the CRA anyway, because that’s what the residents and the CAC have said they wanted.”
A preliminary draft of the West Tampa CRA Action Plan is available on the city’s web- site, or you can stop by the West Tampa CDC office and review the draft plan.
Because He Is Holy
Lord, help me to be holy as You are holy. Establish my heart holy and blameless before You (Colossians 1:22). You who are mighty have done great things for me; holy is Your name (Luke 1:49). I exalt Your holy name above all names and will give praise and thanks to You every time I think of it (Psalm 30:4). Who does not reverence You, Lord, and glorify Your name? For only You are holy (Revelation 15:4). I give You the glory due Your name, and I worship You in the beauty of Your holiness (Palm 29:2). O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, and I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things (Isaiah 25:1).
Let them praise Your great and awesome name. He is holy. Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool. He is holy.
PSALM 99:3,5
Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord, and worthy to be praised. I worship You and thank You that You are per- fect and lovely and pure and wonderful. The beauty of Your holiness is awesome beyond words. Thank You for wanting to impart Your holiness to me. Lord, I need Your holiness to penetrate my life and wash away anything that is unholy in me. Take away any attitude, any hidden sin of the mind, any activity or action that I do which is not what You would have for me. I know You did not call me to uncleanness, but to holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7). Show me the way to holiness in my own life.
Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name wor- ship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. PSALM 29:2
