HCC Diversity Council Committee Hosts ‘School To Prison Pipeline’ Discussion
Earlier this month, the Hillsborough Community College Diversity Council Committee hosted a “Coura- geous Conversations” forum. The topic of discussion was the “School To Prison Pipeline” trend that is preva- lent throughout the nation.
The event took place at the Student Services Build- ing Auditorium at the Bran- don Campus.
Professor TaMetryce Collins, Professor of Psy- chology and Program Man- ager for the Social Sciences at the Brandon Campus, who served as the Moderator, gave the occasion, and intro- duced the panelists.

Members of the panel were: Dr. Lewis Brinson, Chief Diversity Officer, Hills- borough County School Dis- trict; Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee; Dr. Brenda Walker, Professor of Special Education, Univer-
sity of South Florida, and Di- rector of the CAROUSEL Center; Dr. Joyce Hamil- ton-Henry, Director of Ad- vocacy at the ACLU of Florida; and William C. Daniels, Public Affairs Offi- cer, U. S. Department of Jus- tice, U. S. State Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Florida.
The program facilitators were Dr. Navita Cum- mings-James, Professor, Communications Depart- ment, University of South Florida, and Dr. Roy Ka- plan, past Executive Direc- tor of the National Conference of Christians and Jews for Tampa Bay.
