This week’s Spotlight feature is Manda, and she’s definitely going places. The vibrant young woman said she’s not afraid of a little hard work and she’s prepared to make the sacrifices necessary for her to reach her goal of being successful. Manda feels she has a lot of years ahead of her, and doesn’t want to waste any of them around people with negative thoughts. Congratulations to Manda as this week’s Spotlight feature.
West Tampa Alliance To Host Juneteenth Celebration
Middleton Class Of 1961 Meeting Planned
Members of the Middleton High School Class of 1961 will hold its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, June 13th, 4 p.m., at the Tampa Police Substation, 3808 N. 22nd Street.
This is a very important meeting prior to the 2016 Reunion. Classmates are encouraged to attend.

23rd Annual Gourmet Gents Fundraiser: “A Culinary Fanfare”
The 23rd Annual Gourmet Gents Fundraiser: “A Culinary Fanfare,” will be held on Sun- day, June 28th, at St. Lawrence Parish Catholic Church, Higgins Hall, 5225 N. Himes Avenue, from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Police Chief Eric Ward
will be the 23rd Annual Gour- met Gents Honorary Chair and Darrell Daniels, Director of Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Program, will guide the program as the Master of Cer- emony.
The purpose of this affair is to raise funds for programs and scholarship assistance to young women in the Tampa Bay Area who are pursuing a secondary education. The suc- cess garnered from the past twenty years is due to the com- bined efforts of the many men in the Tampa Bay community, local political leaders and Cor- porate Sponsors.
This much-anticipated event usually host over 300 patrons who will feast on an assort- ment of appetizers, side dishes, entrees and desserts prepared by 150 of Tampa’s finest “Gents.” Tickets are $35.00 for adults and $15.00 for children.
The Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women is a non-profit, voluntary organization that advocates on behalf of women of color through national and local actions and strategic al- liances which promote NC100BW national and inter- national agenda on leadership development and gender eq- uity in health, education and economic development.

The West Tampa Alliance Group is announced that on Friday, June 12th t the Lincoln Gardens/Carver City Civic Cen- ter, 1512 North Clarke Avenue, they will be hosting their Afro- centric gala affair. The event is scheduled to being at 8 p. m.
The dress code for the event will be African attire or profes- sionally dressed.
Also the WTA has events planned or Saturday, June 13th, and Sunday, June 14th at their outdoor event center on Main Street in West Tampa, just west of Albany Avenue.
The community is asked to come out and support this event that will include a walk through the history of West Tampa as well as the birth of several African American busi- nesses all over the city.
There will be speakers, enter- tainment, and plenty of food, as well as games and activities for the children.
