Hillsborough County Commissioner Gwen Myers And State Rep. Dianne Hart Are Unopposed In 2022 Election

According to the Supervisor of Elections office, lone Black County Commissioner, Gwen Myers will not have to run for her seat, because she is unopposed.
According to the website, Comm. Myers lone Republi- can opponent Maura Cruz Lanz withdrew from the County Commission race to run for State Representative against Susan Valdes.
Commissioner Myers
states, “I am honored, hum- bled and grateful to have the vote of confidence from the voters of District 3 to give me four more years beginning in November 2022.....I ran on a Theme “It’s About The People” and I have enjoyed serving the people in District 3, as a first- time commissioner.”
In her next term, the Com- missioner plans to work on the following for next term:
1) The one percent Trans- portation sales surtax that will on the General Election ballot on November 8, 2022. This new source of revenue is needed to fund the county’s in- frastructure and transporta- tion needs.
2) Raise capital funds by year 2025 to build a new African American Art and Cultural Center in West Tampa.
3) Ensure that diversity, in- clusion, and equity for African Americans and minorities to have the opportunity to serve on County’s Boards and Coun- cils and Corporate Boards.
4) Continue to support Gun Violence Initiatives for VPK through 12 grades for educa- tional purposes.
5) Continue to open doors to support the County’s MBE

program for minority contrac- tors and professional services’ contractors to get registered and do business within Gov- ernment County.

Also unopposed is State
Representative Dianne Hart.
Rep. Hart says, “It feels phenomenal to know that the people you represent think that you are doing such a good job. It allows me to help other Black candidates that have op- ponents, get elected.”
For her next term, Rep. Hart states that she will be continuing to work on the housing crisis, through the leg- islature and through educa- tion. “We want to provide reasonable housing for renters, homeowners, multi-genera- tional families, and seniors.”
The Representative has criminal justice reform on her mind and will continue to fight for the rights of all constituents in Florida.
Her third major focus will be partnering with other legisla- tors to work on educational re- forms.
