South Dakota Man Shoots Self In Groin; Blames Black Man
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- Most ex-cons know they are not sup- posed to be in possession of a firearm. That’s why a White South Dakota man dreamed up what he thought was the perfect alibi after he accidentally shot himself — he blamed it on a Black man, according to the Argus Leader.
Donald Anthony Wat- son arrived at the Avera McKennan emergency room in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at about 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 for a gunshot wound to his penis, writes the news outlet.
When questioned by police about the wound, the report says the convicted felon blamed “a Black guy [who] tried to rob” him as he was emptying the trash at his apartment.
10th Grader’s Confederate Backpack Cause School To Have Lockdown Drill
POLK COUNTY, GA --- Rockmart High School in Polk County, Ga., went into a lock- down drill after tensions broke out over a Confederate battle flag on campus,
It reportedly began when a 10th-grade boy came to school with the infamous flag deco- rating his backpack.
"He got dropped off out of his truck and came down the sidewalk just like any other student does," Rockmart Prin- cipal Wesley Cupp told the news station.
The student, who was white, continued to walk through the cafeteria before school started onto the courtyard, where he was met by two Black stu- dents.
"They wanted to confront him about what he had on his book bag ... like, 'Man, why you doing that?' " the principal explained.
A small scuffle ensued, with some shoving and an exchange of words, but staff quickly brought it under control, the principal said. No weapons were found, and all three stu- dents were suspended for dis-
ruption.
"When you become a dis-
traction where students can't learn because of a distraction, then that needs to be re- moved," Cupp said.
Later that morning, how- ever, rumors started to spread about other students bringing in Confederate battle flags, prompting the school to go into the lockdown drill.
"We just did that as a pre- cautionary situation to help maintain and control what could have been a bad situa- tion” The principal also said that the students, upon re- turning to school, will be of- fered counseling to help ease tensions.
Sheena and her wife, Lashauna
SAN DIEGO, CA -- A 5-year- old San Diego girl is at home, instead of starting kinder- garten with her friends, be- cause her school, the Mt. Erie Christian Academy, refuses to welcome her any longer be- cause she has two moms, KGTV reports.
The child, who had attended Mt. Erie for preschool and summer school, was abruptly cut off when her parents were called in the Friday before Labor Day, just before school started, and a pastor broke the news.
The mothers are seeking an attorney to file a civil rights lawsuit against the school. When asked by the news team if it was discriminatory to stop the child from attending be- cause of her mothers, a woman
who described herself as the school’s director, said, “The Bible says homosexuality is a sin. We don’t condone any sin- ful lifestyles.”
The school’s parent-and- student handbook, which was revised over the summer says under the school’s statement of nondiscrimination, the handbook declared the school’s right to “refuse admis- sion of an applicant or to dis- continue enrollment of a student.”
Mt. Erie, as a private insti- tution, does have a First Amendment right to bar mem- bership based on religious be- liefs, San Diego attorney Eugene Iredale pointed out to the news station. However, Sheena says that the family is prepared to fight their case.

New York Governor Calls For Gun Control After Aide Dies
During a moving speech at a eulogy for the head New York state attorney who was killed by a stray bullet earlier this month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday renewed his call for national gun con- trol laws.
He spoke during a private service for Carey Gabay, 43, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in New York City's Brooklyn community. Gabay, believed to have been an unintended target, was shot in the head at an early morning celebration on Sept. 7 before the annual West Indian Day parade. He was pronounced dead on Sept. 16 after he was removed from a respirator, notes the report.
"His death was one of the most tragic, pointless exam- ples of the rampant violence that is spreading like a cancer through our society, especially in our poorer communities and especially in our commu- nities of color," Cuomo said, according to the news service.
To underscore his point that state laws are ineffective against gun violence, Cuomo recalled the mass shooting this summer at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C., and another in 2012 at an ele-

mentary school in Newtown, Conn.
"It's not enough for New York State to pass a gun law and close the front door when the guns are coming in the back door, when the guns can come up from Virginia or South Carolina for anyone willing to take a car ride," he said, writes Reuters.
Gabay, a Harvard-trained lawyer who was raised in pub- lic housing in the Bronx by Ja- maican immigrant parents, began working for Cuomo in 2011 as an assistant counsel.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Parents Say Sons That Tried To Kill Them Had ‘Bad Moment”

The Georgia sons who al- legedly attacked and tried to kill their own parents had nor- mal childhoods and never got into trouble — but lashed out because they had “one bad moment,” their dad said.
Yvonne and Zachery Ervin defended their sons, 17- year-old Cameron and 22- year-old Christopher, on “Good Morning America” Monday. The Atlanta-area parents have forgiven their two boys, who were never vio- lent before the Sept. 5 attack, they said.
Our kids had one bad mo- ment,” Zachery Ervin said. “By no means am I discount- ing what has happened. I look at my wife. I look at her scars. I look at the things that hap- pened. I look at me.”
Police responded to the family’s Snellville home after
Yvonne Ervin called 911 as her husband distracted the attack- ing brothers.
The two sons allegedly tried to drug their parents by slip- ping Xanax into their drinks, then stabbed their father and beat their mother. The broth- erly duo allegedly planned to set the family house on fire after the attack.
Cameron and Christo- pher were charged with felony aggravated assault and first-degree arson after the at- tack. They will both be charged as adults and, if convicted, could face up to 60 years in prison.
The Ervins — who spoke out earlier this month and publically forgave their alleged attackers — said their sons were loving children who never showed any signs of ag- gression.
In 2012, George Zimmer- man was acquitted in the death of Trayvon Martin, but he continues to flaunt getting away with murder.
Since his acquittal, Zim- merman hasn’t done much with his life besides trolling people on social media. And on Friday, he doubled down on Martin’s death by retweeting a photo of Martin’s dead body after a ‘fan’ tweeted it to him.
Shortly after retweeting the photo, Twitter users reported it to Twitter and it was removed, but that didn’t stop users from
tweeting about man’s stupidity.
