Former Tampan Wins Beauty Pageant
Citywide Revival Planned To ‘Reverse The Curse’
Chari Guzman, vocalist, community activist, entertainer, and entrepreneur, was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Guz- man won a beauty pageant re- cently. She began her journey at a young age to strive and accom- plish her dreams in music and biology.
Chari moved with her par- ents to Atlanta, Georgia.
Chari is a rising sophomore at Georgia Perimeter College. The 20-year-old is a Biology major and plans on pursuing a career in Medicine.
Chari has been singing and performing since the age of 10 and has been featured in shows such as Aida, How to Succeed in Business, The Motown Sound, and Hairspray.
Chari sang with the CC- CEPA Elite choir at the Harvard Women’s All State Choir Event. Her singing styles include classi- cal, gospel, jazz, and rhythm and blues. She also has performed throughout the United States.
Chari’s most recent accom- plishment was being awarded the title of Miss Rome (GA) 2016 and the recipient of the Frances Frazier Overall Talent Award on September 19, 2015. In her current position as Miss Rome, Chari serves as an am-

bassador to Rome and Floyd County, Georgia.
As the new title holder Miss Rome, Chari will have the op- portunity to raise awareness na- tionally on the importance of disease prevention through healthy eating and lifestyle.
As a young entrepreneur, Chari has a newly formed non- profit organization “Color Me Healthy Inc.”
In the month of June, Chari will be representing Rome, Georgia at the Miss Georgia Pageant 2017 which is the State level preliminary pageant for the national competition title of Miss America.
As a representative of the Miss America Organization, Chari has the exciting opportu- nity to raise funds for local chil-

dren’s hospitals through the Children’s Miracle Network.
Chari believes the reward of giving back is one of the most fulfilling experiences and out- side of school and work she could not think of a better way to spend her time.
Citing the instances of vi- olence, the spread of disease, and other factors, a group of Tampa clergymen have planned a revival. Entitled “Reversing The Curse,” the event will take place on Monday, October 5th, 7 p.m., at the College Hill Church of God in Christ, corner of N. 30th Street and E. Diana Av- enue.

Senior Pastor of New Victory Baptist Church will serve as the keynote speaker.
On Saturday, October 3rd, Pastors On Patrol will host an Evangelist Training Session at College Hill Church Of God In Christ. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Rev. Nathan said the event will include brunch and attendees will then go out into the community.
